Competent construction law attorney, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Mr. Lawson at Capell & Howard to handle a payment dispute with a subcontractor on a commercial renovation project in Montgomery. His deep experience in construction law, spanning over three decades, was immediately apparent. He was clearly knowledgeable about the nuances of Alabama construction contracts and his recognition in the field, including his Lawyer of the Year award, is well-deserved. The legal strategy he developed was sound and we achieved a settlement. However, the process was not seamless. There were periods where communication was slow, with responses to emails taking several days, which added to my stress during the dispute. While his legal acumen is not in question, the client service aspect felt more transactional than I had hoped. For straightforward, complex commercial litigation, he is a capable attorney, but be prepared to manage expectations around responsiveness.
