Competent in insolvency matters, but communication could be improved

I engaged Peter Harrison at Thomson Geer for guidance on a complex commercial debt restructuring for my small manufacturing business in San Jose. Mr. Harrison's expertise in insolvency and reorganization law was evident. He clearly understood the legal landscape and his nine years of experience provided a solid foundation for his advice, which was technically sound. I was aware of his recognition in Legal 500 for restructuring work, and his knowledge in that specific area lived up to that reputation. However, the overall experience felt somewhat transactional. While he was responsive during scheduled meetings, there were significant delays in receiving follow-up emails or draft documents, which added to my stress during a critical period. His explanations, though accurate, were sometimes delivered in a very dense, legalistic manner without always pausing to ensure I fully grasped the practical implications for my business. The outcome of the matter was satisfactory from a legal standpoint, which is ultimately important. For straightforward, high-stakes insolvency advice, he is certainly capable. Yet, for clients who value consistent, proactive communication and a more collaborative approach in navigating the personal toll of financial distress, the service felt merely adequate. He is a knowledgeable attorney, but the client experience aspect didn't quite match the technical legal competency.
