Competent on corporate matters, but communication could improve

I engaged Penelope Hamilton at Winston & Strawn for guidance on a mid-sized business acquisition. Her knowledge of corporate law, particularly in structuring the deal, was evident and aligned with her recognition in that field. The documents she drafted were thorough and precise. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While the final work product was solid, there were periods where responses to emails took longer than expected, which added to our stress during negotiations. Setting clearer expectations on timelines from the outset would have been helpful. For straightforward corporate legal work in New York, she is certainly capable, but the client service aspect felt more transactional than collaborative. I would recommend her for her technical expertise, but with the caveat to be proactive in managing communication.
