Competent on banking litigation, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Norman Leonard at Ward and Smith to handle a dispute with a commercial lender over what we believed were improperly assessed fees and a potential covenant breach. Mr. Leonard's background in banking and finance law was evident; he understood the nuances of the loan documents immediately and his analysis of our position was sharp. His recognition in Litigation - Banking and Finance is well-deserved from a technical standpoint. The initial strategy he developed was sound and ultimately helped us reach a settlement. However, the experience was mixed on the client service front. There were periods where responses to emails took several days, leaving us to manage our business concerns without clear timelines. While his written work was thorough, explanations during calls sometimes felt rushed, as if he was moving to the next item on his list. For a straightforward banking matter, his three years of focused experience in this niche served the core legal need adequately. I would describe the representation as professionally competent, but the overall client experience didn't quite match the quality of the legal analysis. It got the job done, but the process could have been smoother with more consistent updates.
