Competent health care counsel, but communication could improve

I engaged Neil Hoffman at Arnall Golden Gregory for guidance on structuring a joint venture between our medical practice and an outpatient surgery center. His background in health care law from UC Berkeley and his recognition in the field were evident; his analysis of the regulatory and Stark Law implications was thorough. The final work product was solid. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. There were occasional delays in email responses, and at times, the rationale behind certain conservative recommendations wasn't fully elaborated unless I specifically asked. For straightforward health care compliance matters, Neil is a capable and knowledgeable attorney. For more complex, ongoing partnerships where frequent strategic dialogue is needed, you may need to be very proactive in managing the communication flow.
