Bio

For more than 30 years, I have established strong relationships with my clients and have enjoyed working closely with them to better understand their goals. It is my top priority to be attentive and responsive to my clients’ needs. While I focus on real estate or leasing transactions, I also understand that our clients are real people. My clients include residential and commercial developers and builders throughout the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore region. I regularly assist them with negotiating and drafting land and building acquisition contracts and development documents, easements, loan documents, private water and sewer utility documents and home purchase contracts. A large portion of my practice is planning and drafting governing documents to establish homeowners’, commercial, master, mixed-use and condominium associations. I also work with both landlords and tenants drafting and negotiating varying types of commercial leases, ranging from leases for offices, medical practices, retail spaces and restaurants, to leases for warehouses and industrial buildings. I help these clients understand the complex issues and language that will likely affect them for years. I also help many restaurant owners with their unique legal issues, including liquor licensing. A solid attorney with deep experience, but communication was inconsistent

I hired Michael Faerber to assist with the sale of my family home in Potomac, a transaction complicated by an old easement issue. With his 35 years in general practice and specific recognition in real estate law, I felt confident in his technical ability. His analysis of the title report was thorough, and his advice on navigating the easement was sound, ultimately leading to a successful closing. However, the experience was mixed. While he was personable in our meetings, echoing the client-focused approach mentioned in his profile, responsiveness was a challenge. Emails and calls often went unanswered for several days, creating anxiety during time-sensitive periods. His paralegal frequently had to provide status updates instead. For straightforward matters, his decades of experience from McMillan Metro Faerber PC make him a competent choice. Yet, if you require consistent, direct communication throughout a process, you may need to set very clear expectations. He knows Maryland real estate law inside and out, but the client service execution didn't fully match the expertise.
