I have been a trial attorney for more than 40 years, and I’ve devoted my professional life to finding justice for victims of roadway, premises, and medical negligence. I take great pride in successfully representing victims of birth trauma (newborns) suffering from brain injuries across the country, from Maine to Hawaii, as well as Ohio.I firmly believe that in order to deliver full justice for clients, a personal injury attorney can’t just settle cases, and must be willing and able to advocate for their clients in the courtroom. I know how difficult it can be for laypeople to judge how attorneys approach their work and what they've accomplished. One way to do so is to inquire of the attorney’s success and professional recognition. One form a recognition is board certification.I am a Certified Civil Trial Lawyer with The National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA), which is accredited by the American Bar Association. The standards of Certification are high, so clients can rest assured that a Certified Civil Trial Lawyer knows their way around the courtroom and is among the best in the country at trial advocacy.Another benefit of Certification is that it gives me privileged access to an exclusive community of other like-minded and experienced civil trial lawyers. We regularly pool our knowledge to further improve the quality and depth of our legal representation.Along with Civil Trial Lawyer Certification, my membership in the Inner Circle of Advocates demonstrates how I approach my work as an attorney and what I've accomplished for my clients. The Inner Circle of Advocates is a group of the top 100 personal injury lawyers in the country that is an invitation only organization. I was inducted into The Inner Circle in 2004 because of the awards and judgments that I’ve won for clients throughout my career. Here are some of the things that people say about The Inner Circle of Advocates:“America has many big trial lawyers. My colleagues in the Inner Circle are the great ones.” Morris Dees, Southern Poverty Law Center.“One of the nation’s most exclusive legal societies . . . their accomplishments as a group are second to none.” St. Petersburg Times, February 16, 2004.“A fraternity of superstar personal injury litigators.” National Law Journal“The Inner Circle of Advocates, a select group of 100 of the nation’s most celebrated trial lawyers. Large verdicts or settlements are one criteria for admission.” Washington Post, Sunday, June 25, 2000.“Lawyers of integrity who are nationally recognized for their experience and skill, best of the nation.” Paul Luvera, Seattle, Washington.I’ve shared the expertise I’ve developed with other attorneys by lecturing on medical negligence as well as authoring articles on medical malpractice for state and national publications.I’m honored to have been recognized by my peers in a number of other ways throughout my career. In 2009, I received the Craig Spangenberg Distinguished Advocate Award from the Ohio Association for Justice, an award that is given to just one attorney per year. I am the former President of the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys (CATA), and I am also a former Chair of the Medical Negligence Section of the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers (now the Ohio Association of Justice). I was elected a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers and have been regularly selected to be included in Best Lawyers in America®, as well as Ohio Super Lawyers®. I received the President’s Award from the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys and was recognized as a Martindale-Hubbell® Top Rated Lawyer™.LITIGATION PERCENTAGE100 percent LitigationPRACTICE AREASBirth InjuryMedical MalpracticeSerious InjuriesElectrocution InjuriesWrongful Death I have been a trial attorney for more than 40 years, and I’ve devoted my professional life to finding justice for victims of roadway, premises, and medical negligence. After a serious car accident left me with significant injuries, I was referred to Michael Becker. His 49 years of experience, particularly his focus on roadway negligence, was immediately apparent. He wasn't just a case manager; he was a true trial attorney who explained the litigation process with clarity and prepared meticulously. His recognition as Lawyer of the Year in Personal Injury Litigation on multiple occasions gave me confidence in his expertise. Mr. Becker and his team secured a settlement that fully covered my medical bills and provided for my family's future. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is that communication from his support staff could occasionally lag during non-critical phases, requiring a follow-up call. That said, his personal involvement in all major strategy sessions was unwavering. For anyone in Cleveland facing a complex injury case, his depth of knowledge is a tremendous asset.
