Competent representation, but communication could be improved

I hired Melissa Winthers at The Dan Caplis Law Firm to handle a complex boundary dispute with my neighbor, which involved both property law and potential civil litigation. Her general practice background was evident, and I felt confident knowing she had trial experience and was AV-rated. The legal strategy she developed was sound, and her familiarity with Colorado courts was a definite asset. Ultimately, we reached a settlement without going to trial, which was a positive outcome. However, my experience was mixed. While Melissa was sharp in our meetings, there were often significant delays in receiving responses to emails or updates on case developments. At times, I felt I had to follow up multiple times to get basic information, which added unnecessary stress. The billing was clear, but the overall pace and communication felt just adequate, not exceptional. For straightforward legal matters, her firm’s expertise is solid, but if you require frequent hand-holding or rapid updates, you might find the process frustrating. She is a capable lawyer who achieved the primary goal, but the client service aspect didn’t quite match the legal acumen.
