I engaged Max Troper at Skadden to advise on the acquisition of a smaller technology firm. His technical knowledge in Mergers and Acquisitions Law is evident, and his background from NYU and recognition by Best Lawyers certainly shows in his grasp of complex deal structures. He was thorough in his due diligence review and flagged several key issues in the target company's IP licensing agreements that proved crucial. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. While he was always prepared for our scheduled calls, responses to follow-up emails during critical negotiation phases sometimes took longer than expected, which added a layer of stress. For a straightforward, high-value deal handled by a large firm like Skadden, his service was professionally adequate. He delivered on the core legal work, but I had anticipated a slightly more responsive and proactive partnership given his decade of experience and the firm's reputation. He is a capable attorney who ensured the deal closed, but the client service aspect felt more standard than exceptional.
