Competent on securities matters, but communication could improve
I engaged Mauro Palumbo of Clark Wilson LLP for guidance on a complex investment portfolio review, stemming from some unsuitable recommendations made by a former broker. His background in securities law was evident; he clearly understood the regulatory landscape and the nuances of my situation. His recognition in this specific field gave me confidence in his technical knowledge. The strategy he outlined for pursuing FINRA arbitration was sound. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While the legal work itself was solid, there were periods where responses to emails took longer than expected, leaving me to follow up. The process also felt more transactional than anticipated. For straightforward securities issues, his expertise is adequate, but managing client expectations and communication could be more consistent.
