Competent on IT law specifics, but communication was a challenge

I engaged Maud Lambert at Steering Legal for assistance with a cross-border software licensing agreement between my Seattle-based startup and a European distributor. Her recognition in Information Technology Law was a key factor in my choice, and her knowledge in that niche was evident. She provided a thorough analysis of the GDPR implications and the specific clauses related to data processing, which was invaluable. However, the practicalities of the engagement were less smooth. Given her practice is based in Paris, the time zone difference with Seattle created significant delays. Responses to emails often took 48 hours or more, and scheduling calls was cumbersome. While the final contract was solid, the process felt disjointed. There were also moments where her advice, while legally precise, seemed more abstracted from the commercial realities and fast pace of my tech business. For straightforward, complex IT legal analysis, she is clearly capable, but for clients needing frequent, real-time collaboration, the logistical hurdles are substantial. My experience was ultimately adequate—the job was done correctly, but the path there required more patience than I anticipated.
