Competent corporate counsel, but communication could improve

I engaged Matt Petersen at Holland & Knight for guidance on a shareholder agreement for my small Chicago-based business. His foundational knowledge of corporate law was evident, and his recognition in that field is understandable. He provided technically sound advice on the structure and key clauses. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. There were delays in receiving drafted documents, and follow-up responses to my clarifying emails often took several days. While the final product was legally solid, I would have appreciated more proactive communication and a clearer timeline at the outset. For straightforward corporate matters, Matt is a capable attorney, but managing client expectations on process and responsiveness would elevate the service significantly.
