I engaged Mark Levenson of Sills Cummis & Gross to assist with the sale of my small commercial property in Baltimore, a transaction that became more complex due to an unexpected zoning inquiry from the buyer's counsel. Mark's 18 years of experience were evident; he efficiently navigated the real estate and commercial law aspects, referencing relevant statutes to resolve the issue. His background, including his recognition in real estate law, provided confidence that the legal framework was sound. The final documents were thorough and protected my interests. However, the experience was marked by inconsistent communication. There were several instances where emails went unanswered for 4-5 business days, and updates on the zoning matter often had to be prompted by me. While his paralegal was responsive, direct access for time-sensitive questions was sometimes a challenge. For straightforward legal work, Mark is clearly knowledgeable and gets the job done. My expectations for a more proactive and communicative partnership, especially given his firm's stature and his NYU law degree, were not fully met. The legal outcome was satisfactory, but the process required more client management than I anticipated.
