Competent on the case, but communication was inconsistent

I hired Mark Rising to handle a contract dispute for my small business partnership. His background in business organizations and commercial litigation from Helsell Fetterman was evident; he understood the nuances of partnership law immediately. The work product on our filings was solid, and his recognition in these practice areas is well-deserved. However, the experience was mixed. While he was ultimately effective, there were periods where responses to emails took several days, leaving us in the dark on case developments. At times, it felt like we had to follow up to get updates that should have been proactive. For straightforward commercial matters, his nearly decade of experience in Washington courts is an asset, but managing client expectations and communication could be improved. The outcome was acceptable, but the process felt more reactive than collaborative.
