A competent and experienced attorney, but communication was a challenge

I hired Mark Leonard to handle my complex, high-asset divorce after seeing his long-standing reputation in Denver and his recognition in 5280 Top Lawyers. With over five decades of experience, and having led the Family Law Group at Brownstein Hyatt for so long, his deep expertise in Colorado divorce law is undeniable. He was thoroughly prepared for court and his strategic advice during settlement negotiations regarding our business valuation was sound. However, my experience was mixed. While his legal acumen is sharp, practical execution fell short. Communication was often slow, with responses to emails taking several days, and I frequently felt I needed to follow up with his paralegal. For an attorney of his caliber and the firm's prestige, I expected a more responsive and client-focused approach. The process felt efficient from a legal standpoint but was personally draining due to these lags. He successfully achieved a fair financial outcome, which was my primary goal, but the journey was more frustrating than anticipated. He is certainly a capable lawyer, but managing client expectations and accessibility are areas for improvement.
