Margaret has over twenty-five years of experience concentrating on high-asset and complex divorce cases. Margaret’s clients include business owners, public figures, elected officials, executives of publicly traded companies, successful inventors, tech entrepreneurs, attorneys, doctors, dentists, retirees, those with generational wealth, and many others. Her cases regularly involve issues relating to the valuation and division of complex assets such as business interests, private equity, commercial/investment real estate, trust rights, stock options, foreign assets, and intellectual property rights.Margaret’s practice focuses on the private, creative, and client-centered resolution of family matters, primarily through mediation, negotiation, collaborative law, and other settlement techniques, while recognizing that litigation and trial are sometimes necessary to resolve family disputes. Margaret is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), a distinction that signifies her reputation as one of the best family law attorneys in the country. She was also appointed by the New Hampshire Supreme Court to serve four successive terms on attorney discipline system committees, first on the Professional Conduct Committee (an adjudicatory arm of the attorney discipline system) and then on the Complaint Screening Committee (a committee that determines whether there is sufficient evidence of a violation to warrant further processing of a complaint).Margaret has significant trial experience and holds the designation of NITA Advocate. A consummate professional who guided me through a complex divorce

Navigating the dissolution of my 20-year marriage, which involved a family business and significant assets, was the most daunting challenge I've ever faced. From our first consultation, Margaret Kerouac provided not just legal expertise, but a steady, strategic hand. Her quarter-century of experience in high-asset divorces was immediately evident. She meticulously analyzed our business valuation and proposed a settlement structure that protected my financial future while avoiding a public, contentious court battle—a critical concern for me. Her recent Lawyer of the Year recognitions in Family Law and Collaborative Law are well-deserved; she is a formidable negotiator who achieves results with remarkable composure. Margaret explained every step with clarity, never resorting to unnecessary legal jargon, and was consistently responsive. The final agreement was comprehensive and fair, allowing me to move forward with stability. I cannot recommend Kerouac Law highly enough for anyone in New Hampshire facing a similarly complex family law matter.
