Competent and recognized, but communication could improve

I hired Margaret Loveman at Butler Snow to handle a breach of contract dispute for my small business. Her 18 years of experience and recognition in Commercial Litigation were evident; she knew the Birmingham legal landscape well and her analysis of the contract was thorough. The outcome was ultimately satisfactory. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While her legal expertise was solid, the communication from her office was sometimes lacking. There were periods where I had to follow up multiple times for updates, and responses weren't as prompt as I would have liked for an urgent business matter. The fees were as expected for a firm of this caliber, but the value felt diminished by the occasional feeling of being out of the loop. She is clearly a knowledgeable attorney, as her Best Lawyers recognition since 2021 suggests, but the client service aspect didn't quite match the legal acumen. For straightforward matters where you can be patient, she is capable, but set clear expectations on response times upfront.
