Competent in education law, but communication was inconsistent

Margaret Hesse represented our school district in a complex teacher termination case that involved allegations of discrimination. Her deep knowledge of Missouri education law and her 30+ years of experience were evident from the start. She was well-prepared for negotiations and understood the nuances of employment law for public schools, which aligns with her recognized expertise. The case was resolved without litigation, which was our goal. However, the experience was not seamless. There were periods where we waited several days for responses to time-sensitive emails, and updates often felt reactive rather than proactive. While her legal strategy was sound, managing our board's expectations and providing clear timelines was an area that could have been stronger. For straightforward, high-stakes matters in education or employment law, she knows the landscape, but be prepared to follow up diligently on administrative details.
