Adequate corporate counsel for a straightforward merger
Lyall Knott, K.C. of Clark Wilson LLP provided competent legal guidance for our company's acquisition of a smaller competitor here in Albuquerque. His deep background in Corporate Law was evident in the thoroughness of the due diligence review and the initial structuring advice. The documents were precise and protected our interests. However, the experience fell short of exceptional. Communication was sometimes delayed, with responses taking a full business day or more during critical phases, which added to our stress. While his national perspective is broad, we occasionally felt our mid-market transaction didn't always command his immediate focus compared to potentially larger, out-of-state clients. For a relatively uncomplicated merger, his expertise sufficed and the outcome was legally sound, but the process lacked the proactive updates and accessibility we expected from a senior KC. He is undoubtedly knowledgeable, but the client service aspect felt merely adequate.
