Competent on the corporate matter, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Luis Cortes at Greenberg Traurig to assist with the cross-border acquisition of a small manufacturing supplier based in Mexico City. His recognition in Corporate and M&A Law was a key factor in our selection, and his understanding of the Mexican legal landscape was evident. He efficiently navigated the core due diligence and identified several critical regulatory hurdles we hadn't considered. However, the experience was mixed. While his substantive work was solid, there were noticeable delays in email responses, sometimes stretching several business days, which created anxiety during time-sensitive phases. Our expectations for proactive updates weren't fully met; we often had to follow up for status reports. For a straightforward corporate transaction, his two years of focused experience in this niche proved adequate to get the deal closed. The final documents were thorough. Yet, for clients who prioritize consistent communication and a more hands-on advisory style, there's room for improvement. He is clearly knowledgeable, but the client service aspect felt more transactional than partnership-oriented.
