Competent on securities litigation, but communication was inconsistent

I retained Mr. von Rigal at McDermott Will & Schulte for a complex securities dispute involving a private placement. His deep expertise in litigation-securities was immediately apparent, and his two decades of experience, including his recognition by Best Lawyers, gave me confidence in his technical ability. He was thorough in his analysis of the offering documents and understood the nuances of the regulatory landscape. However, the experience was mixed. While the legal strategy was sound, there were significant delays in receiving responses to emails, and updates often felt reactive rather than proactive. At times, I felt I had to follow up multiple times to get clarity on next steps. The work product was ultimately solid, but the process required more client management than I anticipated from a firm of this caliber. He is undoubtedly knowledgeable, but the client service aspect did not fully match the legal acumen.
