Competent on banking matter, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Leonard Kim at Kirkland & Ellis for guidance on a complex loan restructuring for my small business. His recognized expertise in Banking and Finance Law was evident; he clearly understood the regulatory nuances and the documentation required. The work product itself was solid and met the technical demands of the situation. However, my experience was mixed. While Leonard is undoubtedly knowledgeable, as his Best Lawyers recognition suggests, there were noticeable delays in receiving responses to emails, sometimes stretching several business days. This created some anxiety during time-sensitive negotiations. Furthermore, explanations, while accurate, occasionally felt rushed or assumed a level of familiarity with finance terminology that I didn't possess. For straightforward, high-stakes banking legal work, he is certainly capable. Yet, for clients who prioritize consistent, proactive communication and thorough walk-throughs of each step, there is room for improvement. The outcome was satisfactory, but the process felt more reactive than collaborative.
