Competent in complex litigation, but communication could improve

I engaged Leah Gerbitz at Miller & Martin for a complex product liability matter involving a defective commercial appliance that caused significant property damage. Her deep expertise in this area was evident from the start. With over 13 years of experience and her recent recognition as Lawyer of the Year in Product Liability Litigation, I felt confident in her strategic understanding of the defense landscape. Her analysis of the technical evidence and the potential class action implications was thorough and sharp. Ultimately, the resolution she negotiated was favorable and professionally handled. However, my experience was a three-star one due to practical execution issues. While her legal work was solid, communication was sometimes inconsistent. There were periods of several days where updates were not proactively provided, requiring me to follow up. Responses to non-urgent emails could take longer than expected. Additionally, while her billing was precise, the overall cost aligned with her firm's premium reputation, which is something to be prepared for. She is undoubtedly a skilled and knowledgeable attorney in Nashville for high-stakes defense work, but managing client expectations on the procedural side could be enhanced.
