I engaged Laurie Styka Bloom and Nixon Peabody to handle a complex commercial dispute involving a former business partner. The firm's reputation and Laurie's recognition in areas like Bet-the-Company and Commercial Litigation were significant factors in our choice. Her deep experience, particularly the 30 years of litigation she references, was evident in her strategic approach to our case. She demonstrated a clear understanding of the nuanced contractual issues and potential environmental compliance angles that were relevant, which was reassuring. Ultimately, the matter was resolved with a satisfactory outcome. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. While Laurie is undoubtedly knowledgeable, there were periods where communication lagged, with responses to emails taking several days during critical phases. At times, it felt like we were being managed by her team more than by her directly. For the premium associated with a firm of this caliber, I had expected more proactive updates and a slightly more accessible point of contact. She is a capable attorney who achieved the legal result we needed, but the client service experience was merely adequate, not exceptional.
