Expert guidance on a complex international employment matter

Our company, based in Baltimore, faced a challenging situation involving the termination of a senior executive who split time between our US office and our operations in France. The cross-jurisdictional complexities were daunting. We were referred to Laurence Urbani-Schwartz at Fromont Briens, and it proved to be an excellent decision. Laurence’s dual perspective, practicing in Lyon with deep recognition in Labor and Employment Law, was invaluable. He didn't just recite French labor code; he explained how it interacted with Maryland employment law, crafting a strategy that protected us on both fronts. His recognition by Best Lawyers was evident in his nuanced approach to negotiating a separation agreement that mitigated our risk of litigation in either country. He was pragmatic, clearly explaining our options and the potential outcomes. The one area where we experienced slight delays was in receiving draft documents; sometimes there was a 2-3 business day lag, which given the time difference, required a bit of patience on our end. However, the quality of the final work product was exceptional. Laurence turned a potentially disastrous international HR issue into a managed, resolved matter. We would confidently engage his services again for any transatlantic employment concerns.
