Matthew Cooper
I hired Kristin Mitcham at Ward and Smith to assist with the purchase of a small commercial property in Raleigh. Her background in real estate law was evident; she was thorough with the title review and contract contingencies, and her recognition in that field is well-deserved. The work product was solid. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. There were periods where responses to emails took several days, which added stress during a time-sensitive closing. While her legal advice was sound when we connected, I sometimes felt I had to follow up to stay in the loop. For straightforward transactions where you don't need constant updates, her six years of experience and expertise from Catholic University's law school serve her well. The outcome was satisfactory, but the process required more proactive management on my part than I anticipated.
