Competent commercial litigation work, but communication could improve

Kristin Asai at Holland & Knight handled a breach of contract dispute for my small business. Her background in commercial litigation was evident; she understood the nuances of Oregon contract law and her analysis of our position was sharp. It's clear why she has received recognition in this field. The outcome was ultimately favorable, which is the most important thing. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. There were periods where responses to emails took several days, and I sometimes had to follow up for basic updates. While I never doubted her legal competence, I expected more proactive communication from a firm of this caliber, especially given the stakes. For straightforward commercial matters where you need solid legal footing, she is a capable choice, but be prepared to manage the client-attorney communication flow yourself.
