Competent defense work, but communication could improve

I hired Korey Lewis to represent my company in a slip-and-fall claim. Her background in insurance defense and her recognition in personal injury litigation for defendants were clear assets. She was thorough in reviewing the incident reports and medical records, and her organizational skills during discovery were evident. The case settled for a reasonable amount, which was the primary goal. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. There were periods of several days where I received no updates unless I initiated contact, and explanations of certain legal strategies were occasionally rushed. While her legal competence from UMKC Law School is not in question, and her attention to detail on the case file was strong, the client service aspect felt just adequate. For straightforward insurance defense matters where results are the sole focus, she is capable, but expect to be proactive in managing the communication flow.
