Knowledgeable on ERISA, but communication could improve

Kirsten Stewart at Taft handled a complex matter for our company regarding a disputed executive retirement plan under ERISA. Her deep knowledge of employee benefits law was evident, and her 30 years of experience in Denver provided a solid foundation. We were aware of her recognition in the field, including the Lawyer of the Year awards, which gave us confidence in her technical expertise. The legal strategy she developed was sound. However, our experience was mixed. While the outcome was ultimately satisfactory, there were periods where communication lagged. Responses to emails sometimes took several days, and updates were not always proactive, which created some anxiety during the process. For straightforward, highly technical ERISA work, her competence is clear. For clients who prioritize frequent touchpoints and detailed project management alongside legal counsel, expectations may need to be set clearly from the outset.
