Competent in restructuring matters, but communication could improve

I engaged Kirsten Schümann-Kleber and her team at Görg for guidance on a complex debt restructuring for my small manufacturing business in Fort Worth. Her recognition in Restructuring and Insolvency Law by Best Lawyers was a primary factor in our selection, and her technical competence in this area is evident. She provided a solid analysis of our creditor negotiations and the structural options available. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While the legal strategy was sound, the practical execution felt distant. As much of her practice is based in Berlin, coordinating across time zones led to significant delays in receiving feedback on urgent drafts. Direct communication with Kirsten herself was often filtered through junior associates, which made it difficult to get immediate clarity on strategic pivots during fast-moving negotiations. For the premium rate, I expected more proactive updates and a clearer channel to the recognized expert we hired. The work product was ultimately adequate and helped us reach an agreement, but the process felt less collaborative than anticipated. She is undoubtedly knowledgeable, but the logistical and communication aspects of the client relationship did not fully meet expectations for a seamless cross-border engagement.
