Competent attorney, but communication could improve

I hired Kevin Docherty to handle a complex employment dispute involving wrongful termination. With his 13 years of experience and recognition in litigation, I felt confident in his legal expertise, which was evident in his grasp of the case details and his strategy during negotiations. His background in both civil rights and business representation seemed like a good fit. Ultimately, we reached a settlement, which was the goal. However, the process felt somewhat impersonal. There were periods of several days where I wouldn't receive updates unless I initiated contact, and at times, explanations of legal procedures were rushed. While I believe Kevin is a skilled attorney—his awards suggest that—managing client expectations and maintaining consistent communication were areas that felt just adequate. For straightforward legal matters, his competence is clear, but you may need to be proactive in staying informed.
