Competent and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

I engaged Kerry Notestine at Littler for guidance on a complex employee termination that carried potential litigation risk. His deep knowledge of Texas employment law was immediately apparent, and his 17 years of experience, particularly in labor and employment management, provided solid reassurance. He correctly identified the legal pitfalls in our proposed severance agreement. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. While his analysis was sound, there were delays in receiving draft revisions, and I sometimes had to follow up multiple times for updates. For straightforward matters, his expertise from the University of Virginia and his recognized accolades, like being named Lawyer of the Year, certainly deliver value. Yet, for clients who prioritize frequent, proactive communication and a more hands-on advisory approach, expectations should be managed. He resolved our issue competently, but the process lacked the seamless client service I had hoped for.
