Competent and experienced, but communication could improve

I engaged Kathleen Hamilton of HeplerBroom to handle a professional liability matter for my small business. With over two decades of experience and her recognition in professional malpractice defense, I felt confident in her technical expertise, and that confidence was largely justified. Her analysis of the contractual dispute was thorough, and she demonstrated a clear command of the procedural aspects, which was reassuring given her noted appellate practice background. The case was resolved with an acceptable outcome. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While Kathleen is undoubtedly knowledgeable, I sometimes found the communication to be less proactive than I would have preferred. There were periods where I had to follow up multiple times for updates, and responses to emails could be delayed. For the premium rates commanded by a firm of this stature and an attorney of her recognized caliber, I expected a more seamless client experience. She is a capable attorney who knows insurance and malpractice law inside out, but the overall service felt transactional. I would describe her work as solidly adequate—she got the job done competently, but the process lacked the personal touch and consistent engagement that would have made it a standout experience.
