Competent on data privacy, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Kata Éles at Skadden to assist my mid-sized tech company with navigating a complex data breach notification process that involved both US and EU stakeholders. Given her recognition in Data Security and Privacy Law by Best Lawyers and her background practicing in Frankfurt, I was confident in her technical expertise on GDPR and cross-border data flows, which proved accurate. The legal strategy she drafted was thorough and leveraged her clear knowledge of Information Technology Law. However, the experience was mixed. While the substantive work was solid, there were significant delays in receiving updates. Responses to time-sensitive emails often took several days, which created anxiety during a critical period. Furthermore, some of the practical, operational guidance I needed for our Albuquerque-based team felt secondary to the purely legal analysis. For straightforward, high-stakes legal drafting, Kata is clearly capable. Yet, for clients who require more consistent partnership and proactive communication throughout a crisis, the service level felt more reactive than anticipated. Her expertise is not in question, but the client management aspect could be improved.
