Capable in complex arbitration, but communication could improve

Julie Bédard's deep expertise in international commercial arbitration was evident during our dispute over a terminated joint venture in Brazil. Her 13-year tenure at Skadden and her recent Lawyer of the Year recognition in São Paulo gave us confidence. The legal strategy was sound. However, for the premium rate, we expected more proactive updates. Responses to our emails were sometimes delayed by several days, leaving us to manage stakeholder expectations. While the outcome was ultimately favorable, the process felt less collaborative than anticipated. She is undoubtedly a skilled practitioner, but the client service aspect felt merely adequate.
