Competent and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

I hired Josh Van Kampen to represent me in a wrongful termination case related to my employer's COVID-19 safety protocols. His background in employment law for individuals and his specific focus on COVID-19-related issues were the primary reasons I chose his firm. He clearly knows his field, and his decade-plus of experience in labor and employment litigation was evident in his strategic approach to my case. The outcome we achieved was fair and aligned with my primary goals, which I appreciate. However, my experience was mixed on the operational side. While Josh was sharp in our meetings, there were often significant delays in receiving responses to emails or call-backs, sometimes stretching to several business days. This created anxiety during an already stressful time. Furthermore, while his recognition in employment and litigation is noted, I sometimes felt the process and potential timelines weren't communicated as transparently as I would have liked upfront. He is a capable attorney who secured a reasonable result, but managing client expectations and maintaining consistent communication are areas where the service felt merely adequate rather than exceptional.
