Competent on energy regulatory filing, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Jonathan Trotta at Davis Wright Tremaine for assistance with a complex FERC compliance filing related to our renewable energy project. His background in Energy Law, including the recognition from Best Lawyers, was evident in the technical quality of the work product. The documents were thorough and met the regulatory requirements. However, my experience was mixed. While Jonathan clearly knows the substance, there were periods where communication lagged, making it difficult to get status updates or quick clarifications. For a straightforward regulatory matter, his one year of focused experience at the firm was sufficient, but I expected more proactive guidance given the firm's reputation. The outcome was satisfactory, but the process felt more reactive than collaborative at times. He is a capable attorney for specific energy law tasks, but managing client expectations could be improved.
