I engaged Jon Sparkman to assist with restructuring my family-owned manufacturing business, a process involving tax implications and succession planning. His deep experience, highlighted by his recent Lawyer of the Year recognitions in closely held business and tax law, was evident. He clearly knows the landscape for private companies in New Hampshire. The legal strategy he developed was sound, and his 35 years at Devine Millimet provided a strong foundation. However, the experience was mixed on the service side. There were periods where responses to emails took several days, and at times, I felt I had to follow up to get updates on filings. For the premium rate, I expected more proactive communication. He is undoubtedly a knowledgeable attorney who achieved the core legal objectives for my business, but the client service aspect felt merely adequate, not exceptional.
