A solid, experienced attorney with some communication delays

I engaged John Ratnaswamy to assist with a complex regulatory compliance issue for my small energy services company. His deep expertise in energy law, honed over 40 years and recognized by his 'Lawyer of the Year' award, was immediately apparent. His analysis of the administrative regulations was thorough, and his background from founding his own firm after a partnership at a national boutique gave me confidence in his strategic understanding. The legal work product itself was competent and resolved our immediate regulatory filing. However, the experience was marked by occasional, significant delays in communication. Responses to emails could take several days, and there were times I felt I had to follow up multiple times to get updates on straightforward questions. While his rates are fair for his experience level, the value felt diminished by the wait times and the need for me to manage the communication flow. For highly complex matters where his specific regulatory knowledge is paramount, he is a capable choice, but be prepared to proactively manage expectations around responsiveness.
