A competent attorney for a complex securities offering

We engaged John Gilluly at DLA Piper to advise on a significant Series C funding round for our tech company. His deep expertise in capital markets and securities law, underscored by his recent 'Lawyer of the Year' recognition, was evident. He provided technically sound guidance on the regulatory complexities, and his 19 years of experience with institutional investors was a clear asset. The work product was thorough. However, our experience was mixed on the service side. Communication was sometimes delayed, with responses taking longer than expected, and we often worked through junior associates rather than directly with John. For the high-stakes legal work itself, he is undoubtedly capable, but the client service experience felt more transactional than partnership-oriented. He is a skilled attorney who delivered on the core legal mandate.
