Christine Campbell
I engaged John Flaherty of Holland & Knight to advise on a cross-border acquisition for my mid-sized manufacturing company. His deep experience, particularly the 29 years in practice and his recognition in International M&A law by Best Lawyers since 2006, was immediately apparent. He provided technically sound guidance on the complex corporate and regulatory aspects, and his background from a top-tier law school like the University of Chicago was evident in his analysis. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While the legal work itself was thorough, there were noticeable delays in receiving responses to emails, sometimes stretching several business days, which created anxiety during time-sensitive negotiations. His billing structure, while standard for a firm of this caliber, felt rigid for our scale of transaction. John is undoubtedly a knowledgeable attorney in Stamford for corporate matters, and we achieved a successful closing. Yet, for the premium expected, I had hoped for more proactive communication and a slightly more tailored client service approach. He is competent and gets the job done, but managing client expectations could be an area for improvement.
