Competent and recognized, but communication could improve

I hired Jesse Bonner from Jones Divorce & Family Law to handle my post-separation parenting plan and asset division. There is no doubt about his legal competence. His background, including his J.D. from the University of Calgary and the recognition he's received in family law, was evident in his strategic approach to my case. He was well-versed in the nuances of Alberta family law, and his advice during our settlement negotiations was sound, ultimately leading to a fair outcome. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While the legal work was solid, practical aspects fell short. Response times to emails were often slower than I expected, sometimes taking several business days. I occasionally felt I had to follow up to get updates that should have been proactive. Our meetings, though productive, sometimes felt rushed. For straightforward legal matters, Jesse’s expertise is clear, and he will get the job done correctly. Just be prepared to manage your expectations regarding client communication and the pace of updates. He is a capable attorney, but the client service experience didn't fully match the quality of the legal work.
