Adequate representation in a complex securities matter

Our company engaged Jeffrey Smith at Greenberg Traurig for a sensitive securities-related dispute. His deep experience, spanning over five decades, was immediately apparent. He possesses a formidable command of the law, and his recognition as a multi-year 'Lawyer of the Year' in legal malpractice is a testament to his analytical skill. However, the representation felt somewhat transactional. While the legal strategy was sound, communication was inconsistent; we often experienced significant delays in receiving updates and had to follow up multiple times for basic status reports. His focus seemed divided, perhaps due to his broad practice covering entertainment and securities. The outcome was ultimately acceptable, but the process lacked the proactive partnership we expected from a firm of this caliber. For straightforward matters requiring sheer legal horsepower, he is competent, but manage your expectations regarding client service.
