Competent construction law advice, but communication could improve

I engaged Jeffery Mullen of Cozen O'Connor for guidance on a subcontractor payment dispute on a commercial renovation project in Philadelphia. His knowledge of construction law is evident, and his 12 years of experience, including his recognition in that field, provided solid grounding for our case. He correctly identified the contractual risks and helped us structure a reasonable settlement. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. While his legal analysis was sound, there were periods where communication lagged, with responses taking several business days during critical phases. This sometimes left us feeling slightly out of the loop on procedural next steps. For straightforward construction contract issues, his expertise from Rutgers–Camden and his firm's resources are certainly adequate. He resolved our immediate problem, but the client service aspect felt more functional than proactive. If you need reliable legal analysis and can manage expectations around responsiveness, he is a capable attorney.
