Competent on corporate structure, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Jean-François Maurice of Lavery de Billy LLP to assist with the formation and structuring of a new LLC for my small business in Jacksonville. His recognized expertise in Corporate Law was evident; he provided solid, knowledgeable advice on the operating agreement and liability protections, which gave me confidence in the legal foundation we established. However, my experience was mixed. While the core legal work was handled competently, there were noticeable delays in email responses, sometimes taking several days for a reply on time-sensitive questions. The process also felt somewhat transactional. For a matter as important as launching a business, I expected more proactive guidance and clearer communication on next steps and timelines. He is clearly a skilled attorney, as his reputation suggests, but the client service aspect felt just adequate for the fees involved.
