I engaged Jason Lichtstein and his team at Akerman to assist with the acquisition of a former industrial site in Jacksonville, a classic Brownfield scenario. His deep expertise in Florida's environmental regulations and the redevelopment of contaminated properties was immediately apparent. With over two decades of experience, he clearly understands the intricacies of navigating liability protections and securing necessary approvals, which was crucial for our project's viability. His recognition in environmental and real estate law is well-deserved from a technical standpoint. However, the experience was a mixed bag. While the legal work product was solid, communication was sometimes a challenge. Responses to non-urgent emails could take several days, and updates often felt reactive rather than proactive. For a matter as complex and timeline-sensitive as ours, I expected a more consistent flow of information. The billing was as anticipated for a firm of Akerman's stature, but the value felt centered purely on the final deliverable, not the client experience along the way. In summary, Jason is undoubtedly a knowledgeable attorney in this niche, but managing client expectations and accessibility could be improved.
