Competent M&A guidance, but communication could improve

I engaged Jason Farber at Davis Wright Tremaine to assist with the acquisition of a small local manufacturing company. His 15 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions law were evident; he was thorough with due diligence and the transaction documents, and his background being recognized in this specific field provided initial confidence. The deal closed successfully, which was the primary objective. However, my experience was mixed on the service front. While Jason is clearly knowledgeable, there were periods where responses to emails took longer than expected, sometimes several business days, which created anxiety during sensitive negotiation phases. I sometimes felt like I had to follow up to get updates that should have been proactive. For a straightforward M&A matter, his legal competence from Boston College Law School is solid, but the client service aspect felt more transactional than partnership-oriented. He handled the technicalities well, but managing client expectations and communication flow was merely adequate.
