Exceptional Energy Regulatory Counsel in a Complex Pipeline Matter

When our midstream company faced a challenging regulatory proceeding before the FERC concerning a proposed pipeline expansion, the complexity was daunting. We engaged Jim Curry at Babst Calland based on his strong reputation in energy law. From our first meeting in his Washington, D.C. office, it was clear we were in expert hands. Jim’s deep understanding of energy regulatory law, honed over two decades and through his prior government service, was immediately evident. He didn't just recite statutes; he provided strategic, practical advice grounded in how agencies actually operate. His recognition in areas like oil and gas law is well-deserved. Jim and his team meticulously prepared our filings and expertly navigated the stakeholder engagement process, anticipating and neutralizing opposition arguments before they gained traction. His calm, steady leadership as Managing Shareholder translated into a cohesive and highly effective legal strategy for us. The result was a favorable order from the Commission with conditions we could manage, allowing the project to move forward on a solid legal foundation. Jim is more than a brilliant attorney; he is a trusted advisor who invests fully in understanding his client's business objectives. For any matter at the intersection of energy, regulation, and law in D.C., I cannot recommend him highly enough.
