Competent representation but communication could improve

I engaged Jaclyn Neely at Gibson Dunn to handle a sensitive internal investigation matter for my company, stemming from potential FCPA compliance issues flagged by our overseas subsidiary. Her background from Columbia Law and her firm's reputation in white-collar defense were significant factors in our selection. Ms. Neely demonstrated a clear, methodical understanding of the legal landscape. Her analysis of the documentary evidence was thorough, and she provided a solid strategic framework for our response to regulators. The work product was technically proficient, aligning with the recognition she has received in this field. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. There were often considerable delays in receiving responses to non-urgent emails, sometimes stretching to several business days, which created anxiety during an already stressful process. While her advice was sound when delivered, I sometimes felt I had to proactively seek updates rather than receiving them as a matter of course. For the premium rate, I expected a more consistent and proactive communication style. She is undoubtedly a capable attorney with a strong foundation for her level of experience, but the client service aspect felt more transactional than partnership-oriented. The matter was resolved adequately, but the process could have been smoother with better client management.
