Competent on corporate structure, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Jack Dittmar of Kain Lawyers to assist with the restructuring of my small manufacturing company, a process that involved elements of both corporate law and M&A. His recognition in those specific areas by Best Lawyers was a primary factor in my selection, and his foundational knowledge was evident. He correctly identified key liability issues during our asset transfer. However, the experience was mixed. While his analysis was sound, there were significant delays in receiving drafted documents, and his communication was sporadic—sometimes he was very responsive, other times it took multiple follow-ups to get a status update. For straightforward corporate legal work, he knows the principles, but the client service aspect felt inconsistent. The outcome was technically satisfactory, but the process required more proactive management on my part than I anticipated from a recognized practitioner. He is capable, but ensure you set very clear expectations on timelines and communication protocols from the outset.
